Positions for Fall of 2025/2026

Event Support Job Description 

Hours 

  • Term: September – November
  • 10-15 hours per week
  • Weekend availability is required

Pay

  • $15-$17/hr, depending on experience 

Expectations

  • Report to the Director of Logistics and Event Coordinator
  • Assist with the development and execution of new ideas for events and on-farm activities.
  • Adhere to timelines, meet performance expectations set by the Director of Logistics and Event Coordinator, and communicate with other team members.
  • Build relationships and work with partners from other organizations and businesses that align with The Farmyard’s mission.
  • Contribute to event setup and teardown, and ensure a smooth event flow.

Western Riding Instructor Job Description

Hours 

  • Term: September – December
  • Opportunity to renew contract for 2026
  • 10-15 hours per week
  • Weekend availability is required

Pay

  • $20-$25/hr, depending on experience 

Expectations

  • Report to the Equine Department Chair and Farm Manager
  • Follow all requirements set forth by the Maryland Barn and Stable License and The Farmyard’s Animal Husbandry Manual.
  • Create an enjoyable environment in the ring, barn, and on the farm for animals, riders, the public, and any other guests.
  • Contribute to The Farmyard’s Horsmanship Program growth, off-site activities, and other equine opportunities.
  • Maintain appropriate insurance coverage at all times.
  • Manage a schedule, client relations, animal use, protocol and procedures.
  • Adhere to timelines, attend trainings, meet performance expectations, and communicate with other team members.
  • Build relationships and work with partners from other organizations and businesses that align with The Farmyard’s mission.
  • Assist with on-site and off-site events (demonstrations, photoshoots, pony rides, trail rides, and horse shows) and contribute to the maintenance of the barn, ring and any other equine areas. 

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in riding/working with horses (preferred, not required)
  • 3+ years of experience in teaching riding lessons (preferred, not required)
  • Adequate knowledge of equine anatomy, nutrition, and tack
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making
  • Adaptability, positivity, and flexibility
  • Ability to work with children and adults, on a team, and independently
  • Knowledge of Square Appointments App (preferred, not required)

Food Service Manager Job Description

Hours 

  • Term: Contract for 2026
  • 10-20 hours per week, beginning in April
  • Weekend availability is required

Pay

  • $15-$20/hr, depending on experience and certifications

Expectations

  • Prepare food in the Farmyard Freeze Snowball Stand, pick up supplies, and develop new menus and recipes.
  • Utilize necessary tools, answer phone inquiries, maintain cleanliness, and contribute to the basic maintenance of the stand.
  • Adhere to timelines, attend trainings, meet performance expectations, and communicate with other team members.
  • Build relationships and work with partners from other organizations and businesses that align with The Farmyard’s mission.
  • Providing educational classes, strategic planning, and assisting with field trips and guest tours. 
  • Ensure that all team members adhere strictly to the guidelines outlined in the Farmyard Freeze Manual. This includes regular training sessions and evaluations to reinforce compliance and accountability. 
  • The Coordinator is encouraged to discuss and seek out growth opportunities that would benefit customers, teammates, and the business, such as safety features, procedures, promotions, and expansion of services offered.

Winter Break

Our farm will be closed to the public beginning December 22nd for our annual winter break. Tickets for activities from December-April 5th can be found online.
